Katy Lane Clay
Katy Lane is a ceramicist and space-maker. Cultivating collapsable and expandable places of peace- to make space to make; for self, community, connection, safety, pure expression of unconditional love. Delighting in the intuitive, sensory, inherently healing, mediative aspects of creative practice, she finds her authentic whimsical nature in surrendering to the flow of whichever medium that spirit presently calls her to be moved through.
“Recovery of the child within” and “stewardship of the divine feminine” are among her most central intentions in the cultivation of her sacred making rituals.
Katy has been a practicing artist since the early 90’s. Establishing her first art business, Katy Lane Clay, in 2017- she has channeled a majority of her day-to-day creative focus into both functional ceramics and sculpture since. Finding freedom in the speed, focus, and presence that wheel-throwing begs- she has turned tens of thousand of never-quite-just-alike pots- which she later alters and carves with a slower, spirit-led approach. Informed by themes of her present physical and emotional landscape. Katy finds the forgiving, teachable nature of clay allows a clear channel for all her aptitudes and mediums to take root.
Katy finds momentum in the awareness of eternal student-hood- a deep knowing of the illusory nature of “mastery”. Impermanence, imperfection, non-attachment, ahimsa, peace. Simply, an infinite spiritual evolution- awakening for the benefit of all by centering personal awakening of the inner artist, the inner child, the true self, again and again, to be her primary purpose.
