Katy Lane Clay

Katy Lane is a ceramicist and space-maker. Cultivating collapsable and expandable places of peace- to make space to make. Delighting in the intuitive, sensory, inherently healing, meditative aspects of creative practice, she finds her authentic whimsical nature in surrendering to the flow of making.

Since establishing her first ceramic business, Katy Lane Clay, in 2017- she has primarily channeled her creative focus into creating functional ceramics and sculpture, informed by themes of her present natural and emotional landscape. Since then, she has taught ceramics to hundreds of people, established and taught out of her own community pottery studio called “The Center”, and made thousands of pots. Katy finds the forgiving, teachable nature of clay warmly entices a continued return to itself, which stimulates an ongoing reflection on the upward spiral of personal evolution in a clay practice and in life. It is a very alive thing which begs presence and “very aliveness” to maintain.

Katy finds momentum in the awareness of eternal student-hood; a deep knowing of the illusory nature of mastery. Centering the practice of centering, again and again, for the sake of centering the practice, for peace, for all. She enjoys sharing that peace with all those who take a slice of her sacred practice home with them. You can find her work and watch her make it at her newest business venture, Easy, an “intuitive art gallery” located in Blowing Rock, NC.
